What C1 stepping p4's are available?

I'm about to buy 2 pentium 4's (preferably from newegg)....

I wonder what that cheapest p4 chip with guaranteed C1 stepping from newegg would be?

Guaranteed? I don't think it'd be guaranteed unless mentioned in the product description.

Lowest C1 p4 is the 2.0 IIRC.

i'm pretty sure the 2.5ghz has C1, that's what I have (from newegg). 2.5ghz NOT 2.53. Great for overclocking too, but probably not the cheapest.

there was a thread linking to another forum showing a p4 1.8 C1 at 3.3ghz last time i checked

Don't forget that the 1.8A C1 was pulled from a new Dell, not bought retail. These C1's are showing up first in the big OEM chain.

It'll take more time to start showing up in retail and even then there'll still be B-steps mixed in with them so it'll be the luck of the draw as to which one you'll get.

The P4 2.4B/533 MHz with C1 stepping is the one that has been pretty widely spotted in the retail box version. This of course doen't guarantee that you'll get one with C1 stepping.

Someone also reported getting a P4 2.4/400 MHZ retail box on HardOCP forums in the last day or so.

I have heard of people taking P4's out of Dell systems and so far I have heard of a P4 1.8, P4 2.53, and P4 2.0 all showing up in the C1 stepping.

Agreed with many above....

All 2.5(400),2.6(400),2.66(533), and 2.8(533) are only C1 chips.....

2.53(533) widely available as a c1 and the 2.4's are starting to get that way as well...

There will be 1.8,2.0,2.2,2.26 c1's as well and you can see they are start working themselves into the channels....How can I tell??? Cause Dell and its kick back deal with Intel, plus their high volume they go through are starting to really put these chips out means I think high volume dealers like newegg, mwave, and googlegear will start having them in large numbers in about 2-3 weeks!!!!

Wait to be sure and while you are waiting see what the next intel Duall Channel DDR chipset will do for you....Sis also has something very attractive coming but I have never like sis chipsets when it comes to ocing!!!But they may offer some ratios beyond 1:1 since Intel is only specifyingh it is dual pc2100 and I think sis is saying dual pc2700!!! This means ppl who dont oc or cant achieve at least 166fsb on their fsb may want to go that route to get those rdram kicking scores!!!

wish I could wait and see (re: dual channel DDRII and more C1 steppings), but I have to build the 2 servers for clients......

I would have to disagree about them being great for overclocking. The 25 multiplier severly limits memory and FSB overclocking. My motherboard and memory have already proven to run stable at 150MHz (600 QDR) FSB and 200MHz (400 DDR) memory. Right now I'd take my chances with the 2.53 (19x) or the 2.0 (20x) to maximize performace. There's people on here, like Fkloster, who always make be wonder why they always purchase high multiplier CPUs when the intent is to overclock.
