What build for low power NAS running WSE2012

I am upgrading from WHS and need a low power NAS setup to run WSE2012 on. Can you recommend a good CPU/Mobo combo? Might double up as HTPC so good movie playback is a plus no gaming at all so doesn't need to be the fastest.
 
G3220 of the 2. But both have been replaced with G1840 and G3250. So you may check the price of those as well.

The G32xx is the best solution if same price.
 
I second the vote for a Celeron (or any other Intel dual core). I did my WS2012E build last year using an IVB i3 and a Asus B75 board, and it turned out great.🙂
 
Thank you.. on second thoughts i am wondering if i should delink both htpc and NAS and get a separate player later on like the WD TV or Roku

Would you guys suggest i try and save on costs by getting the J1900?

J1900 is Baytrail based. And while Baytrail is an interesting product, for a lightweight server you'll be better served by a couple of powerful cores than by more wimpy cores. Very few things you'll do on a WS2012E box are going to fill more than 2 threads.
 
I actually solved a lot of problems by separating the HTPC and NAS. I used to just use one box for both and it was kind of a pain, hardware was perfectly capable, software left something to be desired though.

In the end I used a raspberri pi for the front end and its been great. So yeah I would go with a separate HTPC and NAS. Cant comment on the J1900, don't know anything about it.
