I really dont trust saphire anymore and have heard good things with the hercules. I will probably be getting an the iceberg thing everyone is talking about to cool it. I might overclock it and definitly want the possibility of flashing it to xt speeds. I want the 128mb version not the 256(i know you dont get the overdrive or the thermal diode). Thanks
 
My ATI Retail ("BBA") has RAM that can go up to 375mhz WITH NO COOLING and has an R360 core. I've been informed that most of the BBA's sold in the last month are similar.
 
the prophet has all those heatsinks so i might not have to buy all new one but your opinions are welcome. I mean how hard would it be to clock a prophet to where a BBA card is?
 
You might want to look into an MSI 9800pro, on newegg it seems everyone has been getting r360 cores that are recognized as xt's right out of the box. Plus the large heatsink seems to help with overclocking. Info and link to newegg in this thread.
ATI retail cards have a nice warranty tho. You might want to check warranties offered by oems.
 
Why not just get that $225 256MB ATi one at NewEgg that's linked in Hot Deals? Problem solved. 🙂
 
I have the HIS IceQ 9800 Pro 256 version, and i succesfully flasahes it to a "real" XT. No question you should get HIS, cause of the perfect cooling system, but whether to get the 128 or 256 version is up to you. OC capability is great on both, but for true XT youll need the 256 version. Good Luck 🙂
 
you may have had bad luck, but all companies have some bad chips. Fact is, ATI and sapphire have by far the best boards.
 
I remember reading something about Hercules going under. I wouldnt reccomend them in that case. Are u an overclocker? If so, get the MSI 9800p. As far as the ati 9800p's go, i got one that only does 405/356 so i wouldnt say that all oc that high. (Note: I got mine last mid-July). Maybe things have changed, but this is the first ive heard of it. Your odds are with MSI on this one. They have a good cooling solution also. Get the 128mb version from newegg for ~$195.
