Had a mongoose, thing was a heavy tank. Got a Redline and was smokin fast and light.

A good buddy of mine raced and he was at the top in state. There was a nice BMX track here as well, considered top in the nation.
The park features a BMX track that is considered one of the best in the country and hosts the National BMX Grand Championships every Labor Day Weekend. All riders must wear protective gear and comply with park and track rules. BMX races are held on weekends from early spring through the fall months. The track is open from March 1 - October 31 and is open to the public when races are not being held. There is a fee for racing. Visit www.derbycitybmx.org.

I had a Free Spirit, and then some type of Huffy when I was a little older.

i had a hutch bmx bike. chrome with black, all trick parts. it was a smokin' bike to look at as well as being mechanically awesome. stolen from the house.

i also had a gt freestyle bike after that. closer to a base model, but still with pegs and a gyro on the stem. stolen when my brother left it in front of the convenience store.

I had a dyno comp and a dyno gt. Both of which my sister managed to have stolen, one of which I recovered.

All of my friends had Dyno GT's and Haro Masters and whatnot, meanwhile I had a Huffy "Challenger." This was also in the late 80's, so the name "Challenger" had certain strong connotations associated with it. It was a shitty bike, too.

Finally I got a somewhat respectable Mongoose and all was forgiven.

I still have a few issues of BMX Plus! laying around somewhere.

I had a Redline Squareback with Ashtabula crank and gooseneck and Motomag wheels. This was back in 1976 when the bikes were made here in the USA and cost about $500.
