What Bioware game should I play?

I have some free time on my hands and looking for a new game to play. I was considering dragon age origins(which I had started once a while back but never got the chance to finish). While reading up on fun classes and stuff, I kept stumbling across other good bioware games and I am having difficulty deciding which one I should play next. I own Dragon Age Origins as well as Mass Effect(another game I started but did not finish, lol). And I just remembered about baldurs gate. I never got a chance to play that. I saw it was coming for the ipad and had considered buying it for ipad, but I have heard some negatives about playing it on the ipad.

So which one should I start with? Oh yeah, Dragon Age and Mass Effect would both be played on the 360. Baldurs gate would have to be PC or iPad.

I loved DA Origins, but didn't care for the second one. I would give that a shot first and then go through the Mass Effect trilogy.

What class/specialization did you play? Did you also play the expansion and DLC for origins? I think the only things I don't care for about dragon age are;
1. Only the 3 base classes. I tend to like the fancier classes. Granted you do have specializations to pick from to mix things up. Warrior seems a little boring, and I hear most companions are warriors so I am leaning towards rogue. Mage is also an option, but I am wondering if a mage won't require more spell switching. Which brings me to my second dislike
2. The console menu/controls for spells. PC is obviously superior at giving you access to more spells without having to do anything special. But I already own it for console, and that is what I will be dealing with.

Thanks

BG2 is arguably the best game Bioware ever made, but that's only if you can handle isometric 2D graphics, since 1999 is literally a lifetime ago for some people.

Also, games back then, when your teammates die, they die...so get ready to quicksave often.

I played both as a warrior and a mage. If you like mixing classes, maybe you should check out Kingdoms of Amalur. It's not from Bioware, but it was a pretty cool game. You can role as dual classes on that game.

Did they make BG2 for a console?

Also, you can use Raise Dead and other spells or magical items to rez your party members. Costs you the spell slot or item charge though. 😛

If it's a critical hit on death, their body gets chunked, their portrait disappears and you can never raise them.

just resist non stop dodge rolling during battles.. makes the game easy sauce.. (KOA)
fun game as suggested, huge world, long lasting, lots of quests, colorful.. Think Skyrim on a Saturday morning cartoon trip..

But Bioware- I have to agree, DA:O was not to bad, some actual choices to be made that effect gameplay, no clear cut choices in some cases. Combat can swing from easy to "waht where they thinking" (redcliff town protection battle? think that was name) if you don't micro manage to perfection.. but those battles are fairly rare.

if you haven't played any I would suggest starting with an older ones Baldur's Gate, Planescape, and move on up .. I would not pick the best first. all are pretty good, just some are much better then others.

did you know: bioware was formed by DOCTORS? who quit to make games? so .. what doctor gives up that kind of pay to make games?

Can you get your hands on KOTOR?

Already beat KOTOR.

I didn't even realize BG was on console(correction, after looking on gamestop I do remember this series for the console. Never played it, but I heard it was different and not as good as the PC verison). Anybody know where the BG series are selling on the cheap?

I remember someone telling me something about Kingdoms of Amalur that I didn't like the sound of, can't remember what it is now though. Maybe it was just the sheer size and length of the game, since I have trouble making it through games as is obvious by my first post. But I currently have some extra free time and hoping I can make it through some.

If I can't find the BG series somewhere cheap and easy to get then I will probably just play DA:O for now.

I believe KoA had a demo. You should download it and check it out. If I remember, it does the beginning which is a tutorial, and then at one point you get a certain amount of time to just run around and do as many quests as you can before the timer runs out. It would give you a chance to see what you think about it.

I did try the demo of KOA, and it did seem like fun. But still selling for $40 bucks. Since I have these other games to play I think i will start with them before I spend money on a new game, unless I can find BG cheap, lol.

So i am starting DAO, and I will definitely be playing a rogue or a mage. The arcane warrior mage intrigues me, as it seems like it has some versatility in that it can use magic and be a melee fighter. I am basically looking for a character that can do many things, so that it doesn't get boring. Which role fits this better, and arcane warrior mage, or a rogue who makes traps and duel wields?

Was gonna say Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2...but it's not even made by Bioware. That game was great on ps2. So on that note, Dragon's Age 1 is a solid choice.

So funny story... The whole thing that started me down this path was that I was in best buy the other day and saw the dragon age ultimate edition for $19.99(I think it was in the under $20 section, but it could have been used, don't remember for sure). Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that comes with all the expansions and DLC. If not, its definitely most of it. Anyway, it reminded me I never really gave the game a fair shot, so I decided I should try and play it.

So I finally sit down to play and go check out the DLC. To purchase from xbox live will cost around $50 bucks. I am better off rebuying the game from best buy, lol.

So now that I am finally ready to start playing, I am thinking I should hold off and buy the ultimate edition...

I tried DA Origins a few months ago and its graphics are ghastly, really. What did it for me were the trees, among other things. Also, as one amazon reviewer called it, the game is dialogue hell. I put 5-6 hours in and most of it was just going through dialogue. I adored the mass effect games, though.

I know DA Origins has gotten rave reviews and I think it's in part how much DA 2 was a piece of crap (I tried it first) that it permanently spoiled the series for me. But, there is also the fact that although I loved the D&D games back in the day and managing an entire party now i Just find it a massive hassle. 1-3 people is the most I care about in an RPG (e.g. fallout or mass effect).

I did start playing DA:O as a dawrf noble rogue. It does have a pretty great story so far(only in denerim)but the combat is a little boring for me. Even taking control of some of the other characters doesn't seem to add much. The animations are kind of bland. I don't feel much of a difference between playing Alistair or playing my rogue.
