What BF2 class(es) do you play and how do you play them?

I'm pretty much stuck on Spec Ops because I play like one. Creeping behind enemy lines, detonating radar and tanks, handling other soldiers 1v1 decently well. After starting off -20 K:D I've worked my way quickly to +10.

I've tried assault because I'd hoped they'd have more 1v1 stopping power, but the lack of full auto means being at a huge disadvantage in a firefight. One tactic I've tried with mixed success is using the grenade launcher in close quarters combat rather than the POS rifle.

And does unlocking the unique weapons play any role in which class(es) you play? I'd love to play assault with a full auto weapon, so I keep trying with them.

Spec Ops and Anti-Tank. I have good aim with the rocket launcher where I can hit copters if I time it right. And I just love being sneaky or just suicidal with Spec Ops. :)

I mostly play Spec Ops. The G36C kicks ass and takes names.

Occasionally I'll play Sniper, it really depends on the map though.

I don't play assault at all. their unlockable weapon has a lot of power, but no grendades and the 20 bullet magazaine is far too small.

Support? I don't play it at all really. Weapon range isn't far enough unless we're playing Sharqi Penisula or another CQC map.

Engineer only when we lose our arty, radar, UAV trailer, et..., but the shotgun is just too weak and too short range of a range for it to be my main class.

I play medic quite a bit as well. It's a GREAT way to rack up a ton of points. I hear the L85A1 is the best unlockable weapon (debate continues between it and the G36C and M95).

Anti-tank? I only play it when we're being overrun at a base. I normally keep my SpecOps guy though.

In playing order?

SpecOps > Medic > AT > Sniper > ||| (common | rarely divider) Engineer > Support > Assault

The bomber is probably my favorite vehicle though. :D

I like to play the Bullet Catcher and Rocket Magnet classes. I usually just run around, and the rest just happens.

Engineer almost always. Here are my stats. Helicopters and anti-tank rockets are an engineer's worst enemy, at least mine. I'm not sure why people attempt to use special ops against tanks, it simply doesn't work. Even the booby traps are fairly meaningless as I can defuse them before the flag changes color, or the spec. ops respawns.

The key, no matter what class you like, is to cap flags. I led five guys in Mashtuur city yesterday on foot and we did great. Just keep going at those flags and you'll get both kills and points.

HeroOfPellinor you can pick any gun you want when you get the unlock (1100 global). So play the class you like and then pick the assault gun. The downside is that you'll need 10,000 points to get your #2 unlock. So pick carefully. :)

I totally agree with you. I play Spec Ops almost exclusively... the Assault class is a pain in the ass to use because of the semi-auto rifle. But either way, I really enjoy sneaking behind the line and making a nuisance of myself ;) .

I play medic exclusively, but go spec op or anti-tank when there's hostile armor.
Medic is nice for both teamplay and lonewolf due to unlimited healing capacity.

averageguy, i think i've seen your nick on some demo servers (or something similar to it)

I usually play Spec-Ops, Medic and Anti-Tank too, but I don't dislike Assault as much as the rest of you. I find I'm very accurate with the 4 shot rifle. Many people just fire full auto and waste ammo.....

You probably have. I go in games by the name of AverageNewbie :)

If you want to catch me some time, I pretty much play exclusively on the TrinityGames.net ranked servers. So far, they're the only ones I've found that don't lag.

You can just search for trinity in the server browser. They have 5 or so ranked servers. :)

Good info, thanks. I was wondering about that.

I"ve logged the most time with Anti Tank. I just feel naked running around without a weapon that can potentially take out a tank or APC, or at least scare them. The SMG is good for up close fighting too. But pretty crap outside of 20 yards.

Second to that I've played the Assult because I thought the rocket launcher was pretty cool, even though getting kills with it is a true art. I've learned a little Quake tactic that I'll share with it: for close close range with it, I'll jump up in the air and then shoot it downwards. Great for limiting the arc for those tight shots.

Recently, I incorporated Spec Ops and do like their gear and the sneakiness thing. The carbine is definitely easier to kill with. Also, hand thrown grenades can be quite effective. You'd think an Assult guy would have those too, but he doesn't. (Unless he unlocks the G3, which I intend to do)

I've dabled in medic also.

But right now, gimme a TANK or an APC to kill with first and foremost. I"ve racked up the most kills whenever I get vehicles a lot. My goal though is to learn to use the aircraft because they are just super protected killing machines. Para dropping is fun too.
