What beverage is worse for your body? Diet coke, C2, or regular coke?

I can see how regular coke has loads of calories, but diet coke and c2 have that neutrasweet, i mean your body probably does not know wtf that is. Which type is worse for you and why? Assuming that you are a normal, healthy person without any disablilties or diseases, IE diabetes.

i heard lots of nutrasweet causes seizures in monkeys. Sugar is more harmful to you if you're diabetic though.

you know you don't need a results option anymore right?

i said diet, just because in an effort to make it "healthier" in accordance w/ stupid ass diet plans, they add all sorts of crazy sh!t to it.

There's no real evidence that says nutrasweet has any harmful effects.

Sugar, OTOH, contains substantial empty calories which contribute to obesity and is the most important cause of tooth decay.

You tell me which is worse. :)

I know the stuff probably isn't very good for you, but for crying out loud, look at the list you just posted: Asthma, slurring of speech, phobias? Where did you get this?

These are what have been reported in the medical community, not confirmed. Of course, sugar has never been associated with these problems (except weight gain :)), so you can take your chances as you will.

Of course, some people have phenylketonuria, which makes aspartame particuallary bad as it breaks down into phenylalanine, and some of the more extreme could be attributed to PKU and not aspartame directly.

Just some information, I guess I should have clarified none of that list has been confirmed indefinately. :)

c2 does not have aspartame, rather sucralose (splenda). this is better, and tastes more like sugar, but if you ingest too much, it will give you the sh!ts... believe me, I had them all the time when I was on atkins (but those sams sh!ts I supposed helped me lose my 50 extra lbs?).

c2 is harmful to your buttox, most harmful to your wallett, and still has calories!

...but if someone offered me a can now I would take the c2...

I wish coke actually contained sugar. They all use High Fructose Corn Syrup now :(

HFCS can cause heart problems...even failure

SIGH

The urban myths surrounding Aspartame are too numourus... and frankly, too stupid to count. This includes the list of FUD in this thread.

Folks, the best thing for you is, of course, water.

But if you MUST have a soda, make it a diet/sugar free drink. The literally thousands of calories regular soda drinkers take in each day in soda alone cannot be healthy.

To those with phenylketonuria, or high levels of phenylalanine in the blood, aspartame, and thus nutrasweet, what you just "snoped" can be deemed true.

Of course, if you don't have phenylketonuria, and consume more than 50mg/kg/day (and if you did, that would be amazing) you could have the same onset of symptoms.

I stay away from all products with additives like that. Splenda included.

It breaks down into small amounts of 1,6-dichlorofructose, which hasn't been tested on how it affects the body. Oh, and by modified, you mean cholorinated. :)

they are too cheap to use something that actually taste good that is calorie free.

i stand corrected! they plaster splenda everywhere even though it seems it has less of that than aspartame... i guess because its the 'in' thing.

how about pepsi edge?

So first you say that an extremely small minority of people have problems (one in 20,000 for whites and asians, less in blacks), and that everyone else can consume it just fine.

Then you go on to say that you stay away from it, even though you are not affected by this very rare condition?

Then why spread the FUD you posted above?

Because those issues have been reported, but not confirmed. Which I stated. I'll edit so I don't spread around this "FUD" which you speak of. :)

it IS sucralose... maybe you mean a modified sucrose? from what i read they take sugar and change around a couple of things, bonding chlorine instead of something else.

The problem is that NO ONE can produce a peer reviewed and repeatable study showing ANY harm from either Aspartame or Splenda in otherwise healthy humans. Why? Because none exist. Both have been proven safe in every study done... and for decades.

Many problems are "reported" for every substance on the planet. People will try to blame many things for their conditions... usually falsely. I think we all remember the breast implant scam.

I tried some of that once. It made me dizzy and made my pulse increase.

That was just about half of a packet.

Coke is like drain-o for your intestines. It also contains ridiculous amounts of sugar, various acids, and high levels of caffeine.

I'll stick to iced tea and coffee.

Oh yes, and cheap beer.
