next time you walk into a starbucks and are confused by the menu, instead of leaving, driving home, and posting a question on the internet about what drink you should get, try this:

Walk up to the counter at Starbucks. When an employee asks "May I help you?" say "I guess I'm looking for something sweet and hot that goes down easy. It most also offer me that caffeine rush that I like for my morning commute. What would you recommend?"

Did you ever travel out of state and you did not want to look like you were a tourist? Same principle. And I didn't just leave abruptly , I just ordered something simple. Your sarcasm is noticeable so you likely all ready knew that.

I'd personally reccommend anything except for coffee... The Starbucks outlets over here in the UK tend to serve very weak coffee - you need to go for a double shot to get any kind of coffee flavour. It also tends to be either too hot or too cold by quite a large margin.

The frappuccinos are a better bet in my opinion since they're very tasty and I can't make better ones at home...

Got myself a Rancilio Silvia & Rocky combo. I'm in caffeine heaven :D

Starbucks espresso beans are good. Once in a while, they are excellent. luck of the draw :/

Black Cat espresso beans are very good

Higher Ground's espresso beans are also very good and distinctive. A bit of a sour note, but pleasant.

Vivaci's espresso beans are very good

Get whole beans. A 3-day old roasted beans tend to be better than something older or fresher. Also, put unused beans in an air-tight container.

EDIT:
I drink a cappuccino (double-shot) w/organic milk once in the morning on the drive to work and once in the evening after work. So, that's $6.70 right there if I were to go to Starbucks :)

Ask me anything about the menu and I'll tell you what the best deal is.

The absolute best deal you can get as far as strong coffee is to order a tall red eye. 12oz coffee, one shot of espresso = two cups of coffee in a 12oz package. Add your own free sugar. Total is less than 2 buck as opposed to the upwards of 4+ you'd pay for foofy syrup and other crap loaded with sugar.

Also Regs, just ask next time, the people there will help you and not think any less of you for it. We're just required to speak their brand of crap, not believe in it.
