See Anand's Dream System for August 2002, the Asus P4T533-C is recommended. I have one running a 2.53Ghz processor @ 533Mhz FSB and it's faster than lightning. ;)

The best could imply many different things. You've identified that your not going to overclock so you don't care how much options the mother offers for overclocking. If the best means the fastest then your going to have to get a i850e motherboard. Currently the choices are the Asus P4T533 and the P4T533-C or Gigabyte 8IHXP (I just installed this board. A lot of features...nice!). If the best means stability you can't go wrong with an intel motherboard. However I don't if any officially support PC1066 or higher ram.

Good Luck!

Are you running yours at 2.5? I just ordered the Asus p4T533-C and a 2.8ghz CPU. My dad (he's putting it together for me) is worried that the MB won't support it. He says he has one at work and it is like a year old chipset. Is that true or is this a revised board and will support my 2.8.

AT used it for the 2.5 dream system but in their 2.8 review they used an Intel MB. I hope that I will be OK.
