Any of the Mobile Barton chips (2400\2500\2600) and low latency PC3200 or PC3500 RAM will be your best bet.

The Barton chips are the ones with 512KB L2 cache, just look for that number, but make sure you get a mobile version, they overclock VERY well (most hit 2.3GHz or higher, 2.4 is almost expected). I'm a bit out of the loop on heatsinks, so I'll let someone else field that question.

No, you have to look at the description to make sure that it's a mobile.

It all depends on the CPU, but as I said before, 2.3GHz is almost guaranteed, and 2.4 is very common. Also look at the DFI Infinity NFII Ultra motherboard, people are getting very nice overclocks with it (250MHz FSB (500 DDR) on some)

Hey... sorry to revive old topics, but I'm currently looking into upgrading as well. Right now I'm considering the NF7-S motherboard, with either the barton or barton mobile. The Barton 2500+ retail is about $80 on newegg, while the mobile 2400+ OEM is about $77 on newegg. The problem is that I've never done overclocking before so I don't know what kind of cooling would be required for the mobile barton. From what I've read, the 2500+ barton desktop version can be overclocked to 3200+ with the retail cooling. I've also read that the mobile version can easily go up to 2.3-2.4Ghz, but since the mobile version is OEM, I'm at a lost when it comes to cooling. Any help on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks!

JeffreyY, I would head on over to the CPU/Overclockers forum. There are a lot of recent posts on what to get with this specific setup. And, at this point I would definitely buy the Mobile. Even with a crappy cooler you can make it run faster than the retail 2500 if that is your target.

use the same cooling for a mobile athlon as for a regular athlon
i recommend just getting the biggest baddest thermalright Copper heatsink they make if you are going to use aircooling :)

Depends on who is looking at the boards at what time. Sometimes your post may not get noticed. Take no offense. :)

For the NF7-S I think most ram will work fine:
- Buffalo Tech
- Mushkin
- Corsair

However, Kingston HyperX does not seem to be playing nicely with this board. There have been a fair number of reports of folks having troubles with this ram (including yours truely). Kingston Value Ram on the other hand is working perfectly fine.
