What benchmarks do you use.

I have posted about a problem I am having with network transfers over in networking and someone said it might be my hard drive transfer rate. Well I decided to give it a test and here is what I got. Sisoft Sandra 2001, using Disk Bench show 28221, Much faster than what they have listed in the comparison chart. Also said that mu sustained MB/Second were 52mb. The file Sandra used was a 900mb test file. So I loaded up Windows System Monitor. I transferred a 1.2gig MPEG file from one partition to the next and it showed my transfer rate at 13-18MB/Second, The highest it ever got was 18mb and average was 13mb. As you can see these dont click with each other at all.

When I make bench marks I usually use a magic-marker, sometimes silver spray paint.
If I'm feeling energetic, I use a knife to carve my marks into the bench. (assuming its wood)

O.K. SiSoft sucks. Has no relation to reality. Your transfers (both a read and a write) sound about right.
If you want to really bench mark your drives, you use (free) Winbench 3.0, disable EVERYTHING running in
backround, and take FOREVER to run various tests.
