Im about to dismantle this computer and put my new one together but i want a quick and dirty synthetic and preferrably free benchmark I can run to compare my two computers. What software or tests do you use to benchmark your cpu? Not too interested in gpu testing at the moment.

Thanks,

Slag

How about the stuff you normally use, since that is the only thing that matters in the end.

Who cares what synthetic tests show...

I do or I wouldn't ask. I'm curious as to what benchmarks would show. Anandtech's cpu benchmark utility doesn't take into account overclocked processors and I want to do a side by side comparison.

then obviously you already know what to use, the same benchs as anand if you want a comparison.

Im with the above poster, use whatever you use on a daily basis as thats what matters in the end.

What the hell is wrong with you? Why would I ask if I already used something? Do you have shit for brains are are just retarded? I don't use anything on a daily basis.. Thanks for the troll post though, I guess it was too much to ask what benchmark software people use. The main one I can find is performance test which is free for 30 days but then costs money and I don't feel like spending $24.00 on it since it looks like I loaded it once years ago. Benchmarks exist for comparisons so obviously I was trying to find a synthetic cpu benchmark program to compare the two different processors and systems I have. Simple question, two dickish answers. Thanks for nothing.

This definitely isn't the friendliest thread here :-D but, my personal favoriate is SiSoft Sandra. Pretty much tests everything, and can perform stress tests too.

I have been asking for these guys with the new 2500k and 2600k builds to run some tests and have not had answers eather. Guess they are all busy playing with hardware stuff and seeing who can get the fastest clocks. OR the numbers are not all that great but for the price the SB chips are a good deal. Just looking for benchs also. Anyway try passmark and use the 64 bit if you are running that.

novabench will not run on a x64 system right? Needs framework x86 2.0 to run.

Nuclearus. Tests both single-threaded and multi-threaded.

Interestingly, both my friend's E5200 @ 3.625v, and my other friend's AMD Athlon II X4 630 @ 2.8, score around 12,000 on this benchmark.

So you don't use any programs regularly? No games or encoding?

I've been benchmarking my e2160 vs my new e5700 using the built in benchmarking tool in Far Cry 2 and Fraps for the games that don't have built in benchmarking. Furmark is free but I think that is more for your GPU. Cnet has a nice download section and you may find something there to test your old and new system.

What test do you want ? not a game, and must be free. I only have a 6200 video card in that box.

3dmark06 is free , it uses a combination of the cpu/gpu @1280x720 .
It returns individual cpu and gpu scores, of which the gpu is dependent on the cpu performance :)
There is a benchmark built in to Winrar, that will reflect how fast you can uncompress, you can set it for single core and multi
I return 3,700 kb's with multithreading checked.
