What B&M stores sell Taiyo Yuden CD-R's and what are they labeled?

I know I could just go and buy some from say Rima or any other online retailer, but if I'm in a hurry and need to grab a few to tide me over until I get around to ordering some. Which b&m stores tend to carry Taiyo Yuden's CD-R's and which manufacturer (verbatim, fuji, etc.) is labeling them as their own?

TIA,

Usually all the TY you can find in local stores are Fuji branded - just look for Made in Japan on the package. Some odd places like Rite Aid drug stores often have them on sale for $10. for a spindle of 50. but some Fujis are made in Taiwan now so be sure to check for the M-I-J as that's the most certain indicator.
. Verbatim Datalife+ with SuperAZO are a very good alternative but even harder to find than TYs. I heard somwhere that the Khypermedia CD-Rs (found at Office Max usually) are SuperAZO too, but my nearest OM closed before I could try some. You can tell by the dark blue color.

I'll be on the lookout for the Fujis and Verbatims. I guess the standard MiJ label on DVD+R's holds true for CD-R's too huh?

I'm pretty sure the Maxell CD-R Pro disks are also MIJ but I'm not sure if they are TY or Mitsui - I think those are the only two companies still manufacturing blank disks in Japan (maybe the Datalife + SuperAzo are still made there as Verbatim is a division of Mistubishi now) - in either case they are excellent blanks. What I am sure of is that the Maxell Pros will put a BIG dent in your wallet unless you find them in a clearance bin somewhere!
. Beware that most of the Verbatims you find out there now are ordinary disks NOT Datalife + - the ordinary Verbatims (even the ones that look like 45rpm records and film reels) have the same dye (very light greenish-yellow) as everyone else and are made in Taiwan. Seems the good stuff always has darker dyes giving a higher contrast end product.
. Believe it or not, Target was one of the few places you could expect to find Datalife + CDs until about a year ago when they experimented with the Napster branded (actually Imation) disks - which apparently fizzled. I haven't checked to see what they carry for a while now.

p.s. I can usually find Fujis at BestBuy and KMart but you may have to dig thru to find the MIJ ones.

FujiFilm are either made in Japan or Taiwan
FujiFilm made in Japan are Tayo Yuden
+R 8X are TY TO2's
-R 8X are TY GO2's

8X MIJ +R FuJi - TYO2 are your best best to reach 16X write speed
I have given up on the use of all others in both CD and DVD
Most burners only write 12X reliably with Fuji TY -R 8X

The easy way to tell if Fuji is MIJ, just look at the bulge at the base of the plastic cover
If its tall - around 1", its Japan
If its short - 1/4 - 1/2" (or straght walled) its Taiwan

I've got cake boxes full of MIJ Fuji DVD+R's that I got at Best Buy sales last Christmas. They should last me a long time 😉

I'm actually running out of CD-R's; I haven't bought any in like 2 years and finally coming to the end of my current supplies.
