Exterior styling.

Does this mark me as shallow?

BTW-this might be why domestic auto-makers haven't been as concerned with interiors as foreign car-makers. I am the american demographic.

if I were to spend money on a car then its value of money
if its something I can dream of then its power that looks good

COMFORT!

I hate commuting, travel and running errands, so any way to make it less miserable is a big plus.

Notice how the Mercedes SL55 fits all those criteria? Its stylish, gets ok gas mileage for a sports car, lots of techinical features, great power and performance, its a convertible and hardtop combined in one, very safe and comfortable, and as supercars go, its actually quite affordable....and it is fairly unique. It truly it the perfect everyday car.

Marketing/brainwashing by the automotive industry. I'm not real unless I have the hottest, newest car & years worth of debit:)

It helps expalin my vehicles too:

02' TDI Golf
03' V6 MT F150
95' G20 Chevrolet with a 6.5l diesel V8

Initial and continual low price, or in other words, #1 is Low Price and #1.5 is Gas Mileage (money over time is generally easier to pay, so mileage ranks after initial cost)

right now, gas mileage. I bought my car because it gets 29/40 mpg, and being a poor broke college kid that I am, that sounded real good. Also of mention are: looks, cost, and uniqueness. As much as I love fast cars, pwer means nothing to me right now. I wouldn't trust myself to drive anything with more than 150hp :)

I'd say comfort first and foremost.

Being a full size man (6'5 and larger frame) I can't fit in anything small. The other day I went to a dealership and I couldn't even fit in a Mustang so that idea went out the window. I went and sat in the James Bond edition Thunderbird though (salmon colour with white leather) and it was the most comfortable car I've ever been in. More leg room than /any/ other coupe I've ever seen and the seats are great.
