What aspects of pre-COVID life will never come back

Tons of your favorite local restaurants, bars and small businesses. They'll be replaced but lots of things you're a fan of now won't be coming back

That is a sad. At my favorite spot, my favorite server knows I always order a beer. She knows I like to try the new drafts that she procures and she makes recommendations accordingly. And I always agree with her.

/sigh

If only we lived in a country that gave a shit about its citizens and small businesses over its massive corporations, we wouldn't have to think about things like this. But hey glad United got bailed out even though it didn't need it at all.

I hope that distance learning a la Alaska becomes a permanent part of education for children as well as college.
I'm not sure how well that is going to work out. For one there are subjects that don't work well outside a classroom environment at this point. Equity in access is still a huge issue. And so is child and parental attentiveness to coursework

Was reading an article about things that changed after the Spanish Flu. One that was surprising was that common drinking cups used to be a thing in classrooms and offices. That's gross as hell.

After this I'll go out on a limb and say handshaking goes away.

Doesn't work well in sciences where there's a lab. Dissection programs are not adequate and sometimes pointless. I'm living with a woman who is having to go the E-college route, and suffice it to say it's not pretty.

What things will never come back? I think that's a bit presumptuous to assume anything noticeable will change permanently. Everything will come back eventually. Sure it won't happen overnight but a year from now public transportation will again be crowded, people will pack bars and restaurants on Saturday nights, and sports stadiums will be full again.

Sense of humor worn thin Pete? The OP should have been your clue.

I am not sure what will not, but one thing definitely will - high gas prices. 🙁

Can improvement be made? Certainly. Can distance learning improve lives and create more options? Certainly.

Lots of people's jobs sadly. Lot of companies used this as an opportunity to do mass layoffs. Some airlines trimmed down 70% of all their staff. 😱 The 30% will just be asked to work harder when things ramp back up. They'll probably hire a year or so later as needed though.

It's only working now because the parents are stuck at home anyway. Once parents return to work, school from home isn't viable for younger students.
You act like school as daycare makes any kind of long term sense. Just because " it has always been that way, " doesn't make it right or the best way. Want to get rid of no child left behind and our current version of standardized testing? This may be the opportunity.
