To me I think it was The Smiths. They've been the branch out to alot of the things I listen to now and I listen to alot of really different things.

Probably Elvis, actually. If someone had a faux-Elvis thing going on, I'd listen to their music, which lead me to love the Doors, any band by Glenn Danzig (Misfits, Sahmain, Danzig), some country stuff that was sort of hillbilly/rockabillyish. And any time you start out with one band of a certain genre, it dominoes and you are exposed to a lot of different music.
