Of course, I'm talking about inexpensive video cards as most people won't spend $400 for great 2D and text even if a 6800GT is your all around favorite card. 😀

Oh, yes, I almost forgot. Please comment about video cards with dual monitor ports, 1 VGA and 1 DVI.

Is there a review somewhere for this kind of card and it's 2D/text performance?

Any Matrox card. they have the best 2D image quality bar none, but are absolutely horrible for 3D work.
 
I swapped my Ti4200 for my brother's G550. At first I wan't so pleased as my goal was a fanless, quiet GPU.

As I look at the icons on the desktop of my NED MultiSync LCD1735NXM, I see the periods in the ellipsis and they look slightly enlongated vertically. They look the same on my analogue Samsung SyncMaster 175v using the G550 in dual-head mode. My PNY Ti4200 clearly showed dots so I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my Matrox. I need to check this out with my magnification glass. I wonder if Matrox would honor a warranty as the card is probably 2 years old.

Edit: Well... 😱 it appears some periods do use 2 pixels.
