What are your views of today's feminist?

imo, feminism started out with good intentions... with the belief that men and women should have equal rights.

but today... i dunno. some feminists just piss me off with their trite rantings about barbie dolls and use of the word "mankind".

due to the reading i was subjected to in one of my english classes, i now view feminism as an unnecessary annoyance (since women do have equal rights now), and english as the study of feminists (along with women's studies ).

just wondering what you all think.

i also have other thoughts about "isms" and their relation to me, but i wont go there

All 4 of my HS English classes (And I was in Advanced Placement classes also) were not about English or Literature. These classes were nothing but 4 yrs of feminism. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for women's rights, but it has gotten way out of hand. I was walking down the hall and by all of the math classes was a poster put up saying "Girls Can Do Math" with a picture of a girl sitting there working out a math problem. I just thought WTF? Guys it seems can't do math. There is not a single person in that school that doesn't believe that females can do math. It seems the whole world hates white men.

oh sorry, when i said "rights" i was referring to legal rights. i'm sure that there are sexists still out there, of course, but i can't find any rights that they are missing... unless i'm missing something...

well as far as legal, i'd say women are just as even as men, with the exception mentioned before about the draft of course

What irks me a lot is the anti-male feeling of a lot of ads. I don't know if you've noticed, but guys are always portrayed as dumbasses who dont know anything. Women the opposite.

another thing sort of related.... i dunno what it is, but the courts seem really biased towards females in regards to divorce and custory hearings. alimony? wtf? as chris rock said, when you leave a restaurant, they don't owe you a steak! and why's it so hard for a guy to get even partial custody of a child that is half his? :disgust:

That, I wholeheartedly agree. I read a story a while back about a guy who killed himself because he couldn't hangle it. They courts made him pay 2x him INCOME in childsupport and alimony. the ex wife didnt WANT to work, even though she had the SAME degree as him.

And how big a % of the female population do they constitute ? Most women I know,myself included just want to get thru the day as best we can and we have Fathers,husbands,bfriends,sons and male friends that we love,respect and care about a lot.

just out of curiosity, how much less do you make than guys who have equal credentials? i've always heard that 75 cents to a dollar, but i don't put too much stock in that since nobody seems to be able to cite the source...
