Creatine, Whey, and glucosatatory crystals (dextrose). Next would be caffeine/aspirin to augment the workout. I was a bodybuilder for 10 years
When do you take dextrose? post workout with creatine? Also, what's the deal with caffeine/aspirin? Did you just take it prior to workouts for energy and to keep inflamation down?
Good questions. You want to take the dextrose before and after your workouts, making sure to eat a meal after your workout (and if you are running out of energy during your workouts, take a protein shake 30-60 minutes before as well). The dextrose will spike your insulin, which increases absorption of nutrients.
Yes, the creatine is post workout, but it also helps prior too. 5g before and after should be fine, it's also part of the "bracketing" method.
The caffeine is obviously for the energy, and also helps to burn fat. The aspirin, yes is to keep the inflammation down and to thin your blood for increased oxygen transfer. I usually will take the aspirin if I'm recovering from an injury, or feel really crappy (like getting sick) and need an extra boost. Normally I won't take caffeine either unless I'm feeling crappy or trying to burn fat (caffeine = beta B fat blocker). The E/C/A stack (Ephedra/Caffeine/Aspirin) was, and still is popular today. Obviously with the ban of eph, it eliminates that . You may want to try taking Yohimbine as a substitute, I've read really good things (it's a rare alpha fat blocker) but have taken it so your YMMV. Hope this helps and good luck.
