It's a shame Looking Glass Entertainment are no longer in business. They designed and made some amazing games that was ahead of its time. Ultima Underworld 1 & 2, System Shock 1 & 2, and Flights Unlimited were revolutionary but never received the commerical success it deserved.

it really works . . .. there are some great mods for SS2 including hi-res texture packs . . . . . i started SS2 and it plays great on my system but i am finishing KoTOR - FIRST.

No, I didn't, but I wouldn't know what to edit to get the cutscenes to work. But then again, the cutscenes are very important to me, if I don't get the full experience, I don't think I'd want it.

the fixes do work for most everyone . . . . for those that don't there's Win98/ME and Partition Magic

(if you don't have one, perhaps someone will give you a copy of Win98)

While I was amazed by some other games a lot more, if you're looking for time value and you like sci-fi, Fallout series are just amazing. The atmosphere is magical in these games.
HL is still the best FPS IMO, but I suspect you have played it, so no need to ellaborate on it.....
URU and MYST are MUST adventures if you haven't played them.

I agree completely.

Red Alert 1 got me hooked on RTS
Starcraft, well, got me hooker even more (though I suck at that game, its still a great game)

AOE II - first good multiplayer experience - DM on MSN's Zone

and, most recently,

SW:KOTOR; I havn't had a crack at SW:KOTOR II yet.

WinME - a pretty crappy O/S - will do everything 98SE will do and more . . . . just don't bother with the "restore" crap and keep the O/S "simple" . . . you don't need all the "security" patches.

yep . . . . i play it every day (an hour or maybe two). . . . it is not quite as addicting (for me) as a great FPS (where i have been known to miss sleep) but still very good . . . it is like "playing" a very good book.
