Unlike you apoppin, where it took 12 hours to get into it. I was into it from the first hour, well actually, moreso after the first hour. Things were unexpected. You didn't know what would happen to you next. It was after the 12 hours, after the Taris, and then after Dantooine, it started to go down hill, not as exciting as Taris, but still good.

I like that you the planets you explored were huge and had mystery to it. I like the people, who all had a lot of story to them. Taris was like that. The other planets are very small and their missions you can finish in half the time that Taris took. So far, I'm in Tantooine, but almost finished. Put 27 hours into the game IIRC.

And another thing, which brings me to why I am here instead of playing the game that I literally spent entire days playing, (its a great game, I have never been able to play a game the entire day) the freaking bugs are killing me. Bugs here, bugs there, it could crash loading, didn't save - too bad. I could just teleport me to another side of the map in open environments, not including the area mentioned in my previous post. Team AI seems to get worse and sometimes, they forget to follow you and you have to wait. Team sometimes don't use their poweres to their ability. The games have a lot of little things that are really annoying. But the game is fun.

i DREADED playing another RPG . . . . ALL of the previous ones were horrible, imo. . . . . the first 12 hours were spent in figuring out what a RPG "was" . . . UNlike you, i did not auto level and figured out mele weapons were suck. . . . actually, i am a pretty good writer and guessed most of the plot advances and artifices (of course there was an "i am your father, Luke" expectation that i saw fulfilled according to my "vision") :p

Well, about halfway . . . the writers DID lose the story . . . kinda like someone came in one day and said "finish up the story by tomorrow" and it was rushed . . . like the "bugs" that they never fixed . . . like KotOR II. :p

HOWEVER, i didn't have all the bugs you seem to be experiencing (just that one area near Mataele Grounds) . . . is your HD defragmented [recently]? . . . . and you CAN teleport back to the Ebon Hawk pretty much anytime you want. ;) . . . also, if you "lose" a team member just switch the view to them and they can rejoin the party quickly enough. ;)

KotOR is still a great game (don't forget to play the DS ending).

Last "hint"

Stop reading if you want NO hints . . .

"THREE jedis in your party are INvincible" ;)
(almost boringly so)

Anyway . . . i finally have Win98se installed on a small 10GB 2nd partition - gotta love Partition Magic - when it works. i am making it a "gaming only" partiton for "old" games with no extra programs, no antivirus, no internet connection . . . just up-to-date DX9.0c/video/audio drivers and the games . . . . i finally get to play SS2 without bugs (now THAT's annoying on Win2k).

AND i'm off to play SS2 . . . i'll just check in later :)

Damn, just beat KOTOR on the Light Side. Took be about 40 hours, listen to stories and stuff. I'll be much quicker with the Dark Side.

Goddamn, Malak was difficult. Took me a bit. Well, actually, he wasn't difficult at all when I started using some tools and such, but very annoying before that.

Pretty cool story.

How's SS2? After I figured, I'd have a bit of trouble with NTFS and FAT file systems, I just said F it. I don't feel like doing it, so I haven't played the game, but what I did play was awsome.

I already have KOTORII ready, but I'll try the DS first in KOTOR.

oops, i didn't see your reply . . .

SS2 is a very good game . . . although i finally set up Win98SE on a second partition this last Sunday, our weather has turned PERFECT after weeks of wind and i am playing "catch-up" with work before the weather climbs into the 100sF later this month . . .

i played further with Win2K (when i had lots of time) . . . but got sick of the crashes, messed up cut scenes and occasional lost saves . . . .

it DOES look good - for a '99 game [especially with the hi-res patches] and i play it at it's maximum 10x7 res, 16 bit colour with 8xAA and 16xAF and vshnch on . . . . monitor is stuck at 60hz . . . problem with ATI's drivers for 98SE, i guess - even PowerStrip won't hold 85hz.

it's WORTH playing

Anyway, you don't hve to start all over to play LS - unless you want to. There is a point where you can just start playing as the bad guy to get the d/s ending [i kept my game "balanced" with just a 'tendency' toward the light {i like the bad-boy toys).
:Q

And you get to be REALLY [really] (really) BAD. :p

MANY good games listed.
I would like to add another vote for Deus Ex and the Baldurs Gate series.
Some games you play, others play you. ;)

I'm kinda enjoying playing again, because now I'm better experienced with how the game works. My characters are much more powerful now than with the first time I played. During the first time, I found rakghouls very hard to kill. But now, it's child's play. Super easy. Almost done with Taris already in nearly half the time since I don't have to listen to people or explore as much. But still fun being bad.

i figured you'd want to ;)

:D

not me . . . i took a LOT longer to play thru than you did - often completely exploring a d/s quest - kill the begger, steal his treasure map and sell his entire family as slaves - and then going back to an earlier save so as to not become "completely d/s".

Plus i cheated - after i completed a level i would read the walkthrough to see what i missed - not much; i got most of the sidequests except a couple when Taris was wasted and it was too far to go back . . . oh well . . . certainly all that interested me

So, I have now beat KOTORII and it was ok with not as many bugs, but some mess ups that just seem unforgivable, like saying Revon is a she and then a he.

There are some aspects that I like better in KOTORII, but overall KOTOR is a better game, especially in the story telling department. KOTORII's story telling is very broken up and because you get to play with other characters, it's not as personal with your character as it could be.

I don't feel like playing the darkside, it was kinda cool in KOTOR, but idk, I'm not that exciting to do all those things again.
