RF Online - Big Mechs & race structure was done excellently.

Lineage II - Karma drop system, made griefers prime targets for attack. Getting Siege Engines to work took luck & skill to pull off, they can get destroyed very fast if you don't pay attention.

From star wars galaxies :
1) Homes you can create and custom fill with your own items
2) shops you can create and custom fill

Those 2 things made it the best mmorpg I've ever played. I think all other mmorpgs are useless because they lack those things. If you can't change the environment I find the game pointless as it horribly limits crafting outside of the traditional weapon/armor/clothing crap.

In galaxies you could just find a sweet ass spot and plop your house down. That is fucking awesome.

Asheron's Call has really been the only MMO I've ever invested a large amount of time in. I played that for three years after launch, and on and off again since. The open skill system is great, unfortunately in the name of balance for PVE and PVP the skills that cost more points to train and specialize were tweaked to be the most effective, but it made a lot of the weapon skills basically a novelty. I also appreciated the influence of the elements for PVE, they made quite a difference.

I remember doing a lot of running, but being that it was an open skill system, everyone could have access to portal magic.

WoW:

Instant alt-tabbing.
No intro vids.

Maybe the rest of devs/publishers realize by now annoying people who paid for their games isn't really a good idea. Piracy? Pfft. Fix this simple crap first and people may actually wanna play games.
