For Indian food I go to the Skylark in "Little India", for dim sum, I go to Bright Pearl on Spadina, and for sushi I go to a place on Danforth (can't remember the name but it's all you can eat for about $16).

Any other suggestions/recommendations?

Wow sounds like you are quite the cultural dish lover heh. I lived in Toronto for 2 years and didn't try anything outside of my own.

What is Indian food like ? I hear the amount of curry is kind of sick

The buffet at Kama Indian Cuisine down on the north side of King across from Roy Thomson Hall was pretty good. It's so far the only time I've had Indian food, some pieces were a little strange and spicy to my North American tongue but it was pretty good.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA... fool!

But seriously, if you're staying at a downtown hotel, consider leaving your car there at least on weekdays, because long-term (over 2-3 hours) parking in the core will cost you $2-4 per half hour to a max of $20+ for a full day (not counting the evening). For less than 2 hours your best bet is probably street parking at $1.50-$2 per hour. There aren't really any especialy good places to park downtown because of the density.

If you're not right downtown (say you're on the Danforth for example) then you should check out residential side streets, which often have free parking. Near Spadina you might have trouble finding a legal spot, but pay attention to the parking signs and you should be okay. The city seems to be gradually converting all the good free spots into paid street parking... :(

I'll probably be staying at the Marriott on Yonge Street so my parking options will probably be limited. I should be able to do better than the $20/day valet parking at the hotel though.

Is there any good free residential parking near a subway stop? I can always take the subway to the hotel. I'll be arriving tomorrow and leaving Tuesday morning.

Hm, not a good place to drive to if you're concerned about the cost of parking. $20 for 24 hours is not bad, especially since it's valet.

You can't park anywhere in the city on a street for more than 3 hours. If you really want to save money, you can ditch the car somewhere along the Danforth for as little as $7 per 24 hours. Just check out this website below for the cheapest lot you can find. It's our municipally-owned socialist parking authority, so you might not want to park there if you have a problem with the government interfering in the marketplace...

Toronto Parking Authority.

Thanks. I'll just bite the bullet and park at the hotel.

My other option is to stay at a B&B near Yonge and Bloor. It's a nice place and there's free parking, although the total cost will be about the same as the Marriott.

I've been to the Free Times Cafe a few times for Sunday brunch and it okay. I've heard that The HotHouse Cafe has an awesome brunch and it's cheap (14.95). Ever been there?
