What are your experiences with REPLACEMENT INK CARTRIDGES?

They cost half the price of the OEM ink from the company like EPSON or Canon.

Is the replacement ink not from the company that makes the printer worth buying?

Are there any problems with other company's ink like from rhinotek.com or jetfill.com?

Thanks.

If you mean refilling the old cartridges, stay away from it. I have found it to be more of a bother than it is worth, it's messy, and more importantly the ink is very watery causing bluring and smearing. If you mean off-brand ink cartridges I would also proceed with caution. First of all, you will want to double check the amount of ink per cartridge, that may account for some of the savings. Generally OEM ink will give you perceptibly better quality as it is developed with at least a tiny bit of concern for a specific printer type, Epson especially as they use a different ink delivery method than other ink-jet companies. If you're not going to be printing presentations of extremely important documents replacement ink will likely be fine, but OEM will generally give you a higher quality.

I would also stay away from them. The people that use them usually brought their printers in twice as much to be cleaned. The electronics on the HP ink cartridges go bad after a while too.

I ordered the EPSON 860 printer. I was thinking of ordering JetFill or Rhinotek replacement cartridges.

I have a Lexmark 5700 and have had great expierence with refills... spent $25 (half the price of 1 cartridge) and got a refill for 2 blacks and 3 colors.. Haven't noticed ANY change in quality and installation was relatively painless, came with all the tools I needed and only took 20 minutes. Well worth it in my opinion. I'm sure I could find the link from where I got them if you want...

ohh I see your talking REPLACEMENTS :)

I use to use refills and they sucked. They were messy and not worth it. You also want to change print heads so your printing is clean.

If you don't give a rats behind about print quality, then replacement or cartridge refills will be ok for you to use. If you do care, stay away from them like the plague.

I like them, can be messing, but hey, you get what you pay for. I guess i just print out papers for the teachers who would care less if the ink was OEM or aftermarket. I personally use them and they saved me a butt load of money. :D

bad news for me. I had a cheap replacement (non hp) and it was bad. Had to send it back. Tried the ink refill thing and got ink all over and somehow didn't do it right after all the trouble and had to buy an HP after all. The new HPs have always worked well and they are guaranteed, but they cost a bundle.

I steer far clear of them, and don't recommed them to friends/clients either.
I am assuming that you are talking about boxed cartridges that are "compatible" with Epson/HP/Cannon printers correct?

The ones that sport themselves as "the same thing as the manufactures for half the price". Those right?

Don't even think about them. They are half the price, but they will last less than half as long as the manufacturers. They bleed on the paper and clog up the print heads. THe one that I had dried up after a couple weeks of use. An actual Epson one would last me for a couple months.

Just steer clear.

Go to InkPool!

They rule! I bought 2 black/2 colour for my Epson SC 400, and it came to ~$23 shipped, to Canada!

Btw, these are carts, not refils....but its an amazing price!
