I just got contacts for the summer, cause its time to protect those eyes from the sun with sunglasses (never liked Rx sunglasses)

I need to buy an everday pair and really dont want to get into the whole aviator/tool scene. On the other hand, I dont want to obviously look like i use this forum i.e. Look like im on my way to talk to the oracle. lol

I already have some Oakley flackjacks for sport.

What would you guys recommend. :)

Prescription eyeglasses with Transitions lenses.

Maui Jim won't make bifocals for me, (the bastards!) so I can't wear my Jims anywhere I need to actually see. They're ok in the pool and such, just not for everyday wear.

Tag Heuer 27 Degrees. I really like them but for some reason the plastic coating on the sideburn area bubbles after sweating a lot. This is the second pair i've had do this. Not sure what to make of it.

$10 polarized shades from walmart. They are really nice for the price, but are already bending out of shape pretty good. Would get some Oakleys if I had any cash.

i tried some transition lenses in a regular frame.

i had some gripes... i think mainly because i am used to wraparound shades with bigger lenses that block out the sun better. with the regular frames there was so much sun getting in the top and sides that it didn't really feel like shades. also, they took a long time to transition to/from light & dark. if i went outside it would take 5 mins for them to get dark and then 10 minutes when i came back in to get normal. so when i came back in i always felt like i was wearing tinted creepy diddler glasses.

You're contacts are coated with a some type of protection? My Acuvue Advances have UVA and UVB blocking built into them.

What's wrong with RX? My RX polarized sunglasses provide me far better optical quality than contacts + sunglasses.

depends on your face type/structure/size/shape

you'll have to research it yourself. what works for some people will not work for others unless they have the same face type.

Dragon: King Pin. Black on black polarized. I have a second pair waiting for these to break, they haven't broken for 3 years. I've worn my King Pins for 8 years now, 5 of those years being a lifeguard on the beach. The large sides really block out all sun from the left and right.

I buy cheap sunglasses and I buy new ones when I need them. I tend to be rough with glasses and would prefer ruining cheap ones than expensive ones.

oh, i also wanted to whine about my Oakleys.

they broke in the same two spots at the top of the frames, above each lens. mind you, they got a lot of use and this was mainly from the stress of repeatedly putting them on the brim of my hat, stretching the frame unnecessarily, over and over.

Brokeleys :/

if they woudn't have broke or scratched i'd still be wearing them fo SHO

I don't own a pair of sunglasses. It's hard to find a pair that fit me well. On top of that, if I did have them/wear them, I'd likely become raccoon eyes and I'd rather that not happen.

I have a pair of Maui Jim's I got from Costo last year. MSRP of $299, but only $99 at Costco. So if you have a Costco membership I'd suggest checking out to see what they have to offer, the prices seem to be great.

I kind of have raccoon eyes, but I really don't care. I can't stand going outside without sunglasses. I guess I just have really sensitive eyes. I even wear them when it is cloudy.
