We just got back from shopping. It's just going to be me, my wife, and a friend of ours, since we're not traveling this year. Both started new jobs so we're staying up in Maine now so that we can take two weeks at Christmas.
As of now, the menu is as follows:
The food:
Smoked, glazed, spiral sliced ham, with lots of extra glaze.
Sweet potato casserole, two kinds of yams in there.
Mashed potatoes.
Pan roasted chanterelle mushrooms.
Roasted golden beets, probably with some kind of herbs and some parmigiano.
Homemade soppressata, my dad brought me up a couple dozen from last winter.
If somehow that isn't enough, I picked up a frozen guinea fowl and pheasant, since you can get them this time of year.
The drinks:
A bottle of my dad's homemade Amarone.
A bottle of Brunello di Montalcino.
A bottle of pink Moscato, probably not for me.
A bomber of Allagash Hugh Malone Ale.
A bomber of Cisco Blonde Ale.
A bomber of Cisco Porter.
A six of Shipyard Prelude.
A six of Long Trail Hibernator.
I will probably do all of the cooking since I like doing that. I'll prep in the morning and have the oven going by around noon, so that I'm just shuffling things out and assembling during the massive amount of commercial time in the first football game.
And I rarely get to stay home for Thanksgiving, so I was pretty excited for the beer variety.
