Leche Flan, not me making it personally. But I'll enjoy eating it, slowly.

I always make the cheesecake. Not pumpkin, no bourbon whipped cream, no strawberries or Amaretto or other crap. Just plain cheesecake as nature intended.

I'm sorry. I know you typed a number of words both before and after "bourbon whipped cream," but they're all a mere blur to me at this particular moment.

But seriously, "plain" cheesecake is anything but plain, so rich and lovely it truly needs no extraneous topping . . . now hand me that giant bowl of bourbon whipped cream and I'll make sure none of it desecrates your cheesecake. :p

Guacamole. Pan-fried asparagus (not breaded & deep-fried). Deviled eggs. Bacon wrapped mushrooms.

My Mom is out visiting so we are having Thanksgiving at my house. It will be a joint effort between my Mom and I. I'm off the entire week so today was spent sailing in San Diego Bay and tomorrow will be spent preparing for Thursday.

Sour Cream and Lettuce. Basically a salad in which the lettuce is coated in sour cream, with salt and pepper. I've never heard of anyone outside my family making it (even on Google).

I suspect it might sound terrible if you've never had it. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

All premade stuff. My mom is doing the turkey, and I will alleviate her burden by taking care of the household chores.

Everything, I got a small bird and a few friends coming over.

Aside from turkey I am making: rutabaga, mashed spuds, brussels sprouts w/ garlic and bacon, green bean casserole, broccoli rice casserole, pumpkin pie and cheesecake.

We just got back from shopping. It's just going to be me, my wife, and a friend of ours, since we're not traveling this year. Both started new jobs so we're staying up in Maine now so that we can take two weeks at Christmas.

As of now, the menu is as follows:

The food:

Smoked, glazed, spiral sliced ham, with lots of extra glaze.
Sweet potato casserole, two kinds of yams in there.
Mashed potatoes.
Pan roasted chanterelle mushrooms.
Roasted golden beets, probably with some kind of herbs and some parmigiano.
Homemade soppressata, my dad brought me up a couple dozen from last winter.

If somehow that isn't enough, I picked up a frozen guinea fowl and pheasant, since you can get them this time of year.

The drinks:

A bottle of my dad's homemade Amarone.
A bottle of Brunello di Montalcino.
A bottle of pink Moscato, probably not for me.
A bomber of Allagash Hugh Malone Ale.
A bomber of Cisco Blonde Ale.
A bomber of Cisco Porter.
A six of Shipyard Prelude.
A six of Long Trail Hibernator.

I will probably do all of the cooking since I like doing that. I'll prep in the morning and have the oven going by around noon, so that I'm just shuffling things out and assembling during the massive amount of commercial time in the first football game.

And I rarely get to stay home for Thanksgiving, so I was pretty excited for the beer variety.

Your mom has always taken credit cards in the past. Why would she not take them now (new credit card fee laws)? :hmm:
They suspended her account because she was charging a 3% surcharge.
Bastards. Now I have to buy her crack for her.

Just pulled the spare ribs out of the smoker. Ribs are done and ready for tomorrow. I decided not to do the ham this year and instead we're going to have smoked ribs for pork. I have the water boiling and almost ready to brine the turkey.

Tomorrow I'm doing smoked turkey, pot roast, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, steamed mussels, and boiled & grilled shrimp. Wife is doing the pumpkin pie and couple other stuff I don't know about.

I made my famous Pecan Pie (double pecans), and will likely make some Buttermilk Biscuits.
This meal, everyone is bringing a separate dish, only it's my kitchen :)
