Got rejected from a job I really wanted, not because my skills were lacking ("answered all questions correctly") but moreso because of my plain and unassuming personality. Not the first time, but damn if it still doesn't suck.

Good thing I have 18 of my good friends for company tonight.
 
Margaritas! Because of that fantastic Mexican holiday, mi cumpleaños. I was going to throw together some Palomas, but I have no Squirt, so Margaritas are a happy silver medal. And maybe later, some birthday Scotch, because fuck it.

The Cocktail

Homer: "I decided to mix the little bits that were left in every liquor bottle. In my haste I had grabbed a bottle of the kids' cough syrup. I don't know the scientific explanation, but fire made it good."

My brother went to Peru on a condor restoration project over a decade ago, and while he was there he picked up a bottle of local pisco, which he apparently completely forgot he had until last month. He brought it to me in the hopes I would make him a delicious cocktail, and apparently I did not disappoint, because he left the bottle. Well tonight I broke it out again for an authentic pisco sour; pisco, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and egg white, shaken until fluffy and garnished with single drops of Angostura bitters. I actually put bitters in a dropper and placed three individual drops and ran a toothpick through them to make bitters art, because I am fancy. The following picture is not mine, but it is a fairly close approximation of what mine looked like (even the same glassware!).

Damn good stuff. I don't know that I'd recommend a bottle of pisco on its own, but if you ever find yourself in a Peruvian restaurant, a good pisco sour is a treat.
 
Nothing very good atm, might have to get some Stella or something.

I do like Stella.

Just called the wife, she's on the way home and picking up some.

Barely checking in here.
This was everything I imagined it could be. It has the initial tequila flavor but then transitions to the bourbon flavor on the finish. Afterwards the tequila flavor comes back. Very smooth and tasty. Well worth the $25.
 
Beer. Pretty sure it is just Miller Lite but enough of it will do the trick. Wish I had some Ziegenbock though.
