On Wednesday I will be sampling a new product for a fast food company, if you are in the Dallas area I can get you in. On Saturday I will sit on my 10th(?...I lost count) paid jury trial, which will most likely be another patent case.

Besides work, what else do you have planned this week?

You are in the Eastern District of Texas? Keep up the good work. My clients love to know where they are going to sue or be sued.

As for my week, I'll be rendering an IP opinion for a client on a venture capital investment opportunity in the medical device arena.

fancy dinner with my friends this weekend.

like 6-7 years ago, we decided to stop buying gifts for eachother... instead, we'd take the money and spend it on having a fancy holiday dinner together instead. usually we do it in December, but due to scheduling issues this year, it got pushed back till after the holidays.

One thing Ive learned about patent cases is that drama usually wins. Too much complexity goes over peoples heads and puts them to sleep. Just the other day, I had to remind people that greed is wrong BUT ITS NOT ILLEGAL! D:

Mostly work. I do have Thursday and Friday off though, then I start 4x 12h day shifts. Then I THINK I'm off for like 2 weeks or something like that, but I did not see the next schedule. I do know I have a nice stretch of time off coming up.

I've been working on my environmental monitoring system, and started on the front end, and learning ajax as I go. It's working fairly nicely. This is a program I'll eventually release to the public. It started off as a simple way to monitor if my power goes out, and it grew from there. Monitors temperature, various software based alarm points like low memory, low disk space, if any service failed, etc... even monitors mouse traps.

So yeah will probably finish the alarm display front end for it. i still need to look into smoke detectors that have "NC" alarm point connection points. I want to add them around the house so I can get an alert if one goes off. It's kinda pointless to have smoke detectors if you're not home and they're not being monitored. I do have one central one monitored by my alarm company though.

On Saturday, my wife and I are leaving our daughter for our first over-night trip away from her. We'll be headed to L.A. to surprise a good friend for a birthday dinner. During the week, I'll be handing out Foodstamps and Cash-aid like nobody's business...

Ive actually been deputized by Youtube
with access to a special flagging screen that commoners dont get access too. Only a few lucky snitches have been invited to participate in this pilot program. :sneaky:

Yeah, once you introduce a jury into a patent case, all bets are off. Many folks have a good idea how to operate a cell phone, but have no idea how a cell phone actually operates. I.e., once you get into the technical minutiae of things (which all patent cases do), the chances of a jury understanding (or caring about) what you are talking about asymptotically approaches 0.
