What are those EDO SOJ memory modules called that they used in old PCI video cards?

Actually it's on board video in a Packard Bell.

I've got an S3 with 1 MB of RAM and it's upgradable to 2MB with the use of those little memory modules and I can't remember the technical name for them to know what I'm asking for. They're 512K each. I thought they were SOJs, but when I look up SOJs at Pricewatch, I get SOJ DIMMs for laptops. :|

FYI: They look like little Andes' mints.

If anyone remebers what they're called and if they have any or know where I can get some, I'd appreciate it. :Q

Isn't is just SO-DIMM (or is that what you meant by SOJ DIMM?)?

No thanks guys. They aren't DIMMs. It's not SGRAM either. They're EDO. They fit in little sockets about the size of, as I said, Andes mints.

It used to be a very common way to upgrade video and I've got an old Packard Bell that needs them. They are 512K each. The same kind of memory that old Soundblaster cards used to use, but not the Soundblaster cards that had the 30 pin SIMM slots. :(

Just SOJ chips, eh?

Hmm.... Maybe nobody sells them because I can't find them on Pricewatch. :(

Oh I gotcha. I think my old ATI Rage Pro actually accepted SO-DIMMs though but the one you're talking about is smaller if it's the Sound blaster module(I had the upgrade module whatever it was). Your best bet is to go to a used computer store or those businesses that deal with purchasing used company computers. I know that we've got some SBs here at work with memory upgrades...I'll see if they're SIMMs or the ones you need.

Ka-CHING! Thanks Russ!

Haven't had access to those Andes mint chips since I worked for that Horizontal Mambo with Asus company. ;) (inside joke)

Hey! This will benefit the TA Cube since the unit is on the network and can spend idle time doing RC5 packets.

May need to get back w/ you on how to do that in Linux.
