The following programs run in the background on my Win98Se system. They don't seem to have any effect when I kill them , so I was wondering what hey are for, and if they are spyware, how do I kill them?

Rnaapp

Em_exec

Wkcalrem

Anvshell

Hidserv

Thanks for any help.

I'm betting you have a Logitech Mouse, right? This is the program it loads on startup.

Looks possibly like an Antivirus program, but I'm not sure.

I don't know about the other programs, but you may be able to get an idea of what they do by running MSConfig, looking at the startup tab and checking what directories they reside in.

HIDSERV might be a USB device controller or something (HID device... something like Human Interaction Device or osmething)

GKar,

I guess the other items have been covered. Rnaapp is the dial-up networking application.

look in your registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and look at the keys. it may give you the directory where the files are being run from and give you an idea of what they are.

DON'T change anything if u DON'T know what you are doing.
