You see, a partially incorrect reply such as "but ctfmon.exe and updreg.exe are Creative Labs bloatware IIRC" gets me to learn a thing or two. I never had a creative-related product in my system but I have ctfmon.exe running. Did some research (actually just type the word in google) and found the following info.
Ctfmon.exe activates the Alternative User Input Text Input Processor (TIP) and the Microsoft Office Language Bar.
What does the Ctfmon.exe file do?
Ctfmon.exe monitors the active windows and provides text input service support for speech recognition, handwriting recognition, keyboard, translation, and other alternative user input technologies.
