Anybody know if those stupid nut things next to like parallel/vga/serial ports have a special name, and more importantly does anybody know where I can purchase a bunch of them?

If you don't know what I'm talking about here and here is pictures.

I do not know of a name for these items however I was able to acquire some by going to my local mom & pop PC store and asking them for a bag of spare nuts & bolts for my PC. They charged me $5 but I had what I needed. You could also unscrew them from an old machine that doesnt need them anymore.

Just my 2 cents.

thanks, using some from old machines is a good idea, as we probably have plenty. I don't know why I didn't think of that

Our local Mom and Pop store never has stuff like that, but yeah I suppose I could at least check. I was hoping I could just order a bunch cheap from Newegg, but I can't find them.

I think you can get them from cyberguys.com. They are called D-Sub mounting hardware. They are 4-40 standard thread. Most anyplace that sells D-Sub connectors (the ones used for serial and parallel ports), like Radio Shack, DigiKey, etc., also sell the mounting hardware. I try to keep some in my parts jar at all times.
