I personally use a Sony MDR-EX70, and I absolutely love it. Its not the very best out there, but considering its about $50, its not a cheapie either. I believe its a pretty good medium without going too overboard.

I picked up a pair of Kenwood brand earbuds from Circuit City...they were on sale for like $9.99.

Been great for 3 years.

I don't like earbuds at all. Can they ever match the sound quality of even mediocre full headphones?

I'll stick with my Grado sr-80's. Best buy anywhere

I just hate having anything wrapped around my head (hair)...unless it's a ballcap when I head to Home Depot on a Sat. when I haven't showered yet :D

For detailed listening, the Etymotic ER4s is highly regarded. Either way, cans and earbuds serve their own purposes.

for realistily price earbuds (< $100) I'd say Sony E888, >$100 range i'd say Etymotic ER4S

These probably.

Quoted for emphasis.
Yes, Etymotics are bar none the best earbuds and best for weight/comfort/isolation.

However, if you want to be able to pay attention to things like outside noise such as an approaching bigrig or freight train, you might want something with a little *less* isolation.

Sennheiser MX500 earbuds are relatively cheap for the quality you get. Pick up a pair at Newegg.
