I haven't a clue.

Can anyone help? I'm at 4126pts (runs on top of seti so it takes days to complete a unit) so how about I set them;) 5000 is the best milestone:p;) J/K

Anyone?

When did you begin running UD, CADguy? I began, on July 20, 2002 and at this very moment have two machines running it, one started five days later and have 2412 points. The late starter has only returned two results at this moment to give you an idea of the ratio of work. I saw your farm of computers and was impressed with the individual and collecective power. Which machine(s) do you run UD on? I only have two computers functional at the moment. I am new to the DC world and for some reason am strangley fascinated with th

Okay, whew! I'm Back. I had to run right in the middle of typing this because a problem came up at work. A coworker never showed up after his break during intermission. I got the wonderful joy of pulling the grand drape in and out 500 times during the last half of some dance show. But I was in the middle of something, where was I? Oh yes I see.

I am strangely fascinated with what my machine has crunched on while I am away. Everytime I dial up I check my UD clients and and see what progress was made. How many points, how many more hours.

I just cannot get over the fact that if we can amass this kind of computing power just with volunteers in the private sector, what could we do if my employer (University of Houston System) put UD on their machines just working when a screen saver.

Poritz - My rigz list is quite old actually. The only node I have UD on ATM is my XP1600 on a KG7 OC'd to 1554Mhz. It has only been running for 9 days and that is with SETI on my machine too. With SETI running it takes FOREVER to complete a unit but I <gasp> shut down seti everyonce in a while <gasp> so UD will actually get some good crunching done;)

I haven't figured out their pts structure ratio yet but I seem to get some good point values for the units I turn in. UD bases their somehow on time total run time not actual CPU time so me running it with SETI doesn't affect the pts even though it only gets a few CPU clocks every once in a while.

List o computers(all my own at home :D)

1. BP6 366s @ 550 (dually) <-- will be taken offline shortly to be sent to LANMAN:D and the BEOWULF project.
2. BP6 366s @ 550 (dually)
3. BP6 500s @ ~615 (dually)
4. KG7 XP1600(1400mhz) @ 1554
5. Epox 8k7a 1ghz MP @ 1442
6. Asus ???(don't remember at the moment) 1.33ghz@1554
7. KT7 750@825
8. Soyo SY-7ISA+ P3 700@805
9. crappy mobo with celly 700 - no OC :p <--My 3yr old's "pewter" ;):p
10. winbook lappy P233 - and is broken ATM :(

I suppose I should update my "Rigz" now that I've inventoried my computers :p

Now as for my "farm of computers and was impressed with the individual and collecective power." - well - I'm sure quite a few of the people here in the DC forum can beat my mini-farm list quite handily.

Welcome to "DC" where beer, babes, and computers are your freinds.... :p

Thanks CADkindaGUY for welcoming me into your community. I like it when I see people doing something that can make an positive impact on the world. This UD project is probably one of the best things that has ever emerged from the internet.

BTW, I am considering one of those new Shuttle mini PCs as a summer project. I am considering using it to learn about linux on. As I am a newbie of the first order as far as linux is concerned I am going to go the super sugarcoated route with Lycoris Linux. I don't like nitty gritty software stuff. What do you think of it as a number cruncher?

And If anyone wants to contribute their thoughts on UD milestones don't hesitate. Though I never knew anyone around the anand forums to hold back.

I'm up to 15407 - running it on 2 computers. Anyone know how to check how we're doing against each other? I can only find total team points on the website

Of course there are milestones in UD just like in every other DC project, whenever you reach a big round number in WU's/points/total CPU time you can say you've reached a milestone.
If you are asking about an official rewarding scheme (with milestone certificates like the ones you get from SETI@home) good luck finding one.

<-- 133.5 days CPU time, 29 WU's, 45,696 points, 0 acknowledgements from UD.

While I'm glad to be doing this, and feeling like I am helping UD to reach a meaningful goal, I have been surprised to find that
UD has no interest in showing appreciation for the volunteers that it's project would be useless without.

Heck, for that matter TeamAnandtech hasn't even seemed to notice I joined up with them. I guess everyone is too busy
with more important DC projects like looking for Martians. (PUHLEEEEEEEEEEZE)

So anyway, I figure I'll give'em a few weeks and assume I helped...... someone...... somewhere.

OK, well I think 100'000 points is definitely the major milestone that we're all aiming for, only 68 members have reached over 100'000 points. Out of our 591 members signed up - that's only 11.5%
A GOOD milestone is 50'000 points. There's still only 110 members who've passed 50K. - only 18.6%
We have more members past 100K than 50K.

Finally - I think 25'000 points is a good first milestone. It should take some time w/ a few computers to build up that many points & should definitely be worth some small recognition.

SOON, very SOON - you will be added to THIS thread. :D

I think I'll need some help keeping those threads up to date. If you guys notice someone has passed 50K or 100K, please inform me via PM.

Insidious, you completely captured my sentiments about these things, especialy about certain frivolous DC projects and going unnoticed.

We'll always know our project is better!
