saw a syncmaster 950p for $250.anybody use one? read mixed reviews in magazines.are there other models that are better? give me some opinions......

I have a nec fe950 19 inch and i love it.
It has the same trinitron tube as misubishi and most people agree they are top of the line.
Plus mitsubishi just bought nec so you will have continuing support.

I have used one it is an great monitor, curved tube but very good quality. But for a few bucks more you could get a 955 df, I dont know how they are vs the 950p but they are flat and newer.

Read all the review, Sony is on top all the time. Why skimp on monitor? They're the last to be upgraded, and you look at it all the time, so get the best one. It should last you a couple of years or so. Maximum PC has recommded Sony Monitors 2 years in a row and 19 inch is their minimum recommendation. Or if you're really tight on budget, just get anything w/ an apertule grill technology, like the Mitsubishi or Samsung w/c the other guys here mentioned not the Shadow Mask since it's not as vivid or colorful as an aperture grill monitor. No, I don't work for Sony.
