Depends on your definition of punk. These days some people consider bands like good charlotte and sum 41 punk.

I say punk sucks, no matter what 'flavor' it is. NOFX is pretty cool though.

To me, the punk era was, say, '75 - '85

Good Charlotte and Sum 41 are "Pop Punk" or "Nu Punk".

NOFX is just plain "Punk". (Though they do songs that fit under the category of "Skunk" -- Ska-Punk)

Bad Religion is "Punk Rock", as is Pennywise.

Most 80's era Punk is now called "Old Punk" or "Classic Punk", like Social Distortion and Dead Kennedys.

That's the going definitions around here anyway.

LOL, Shane MacGowan is spinning in his grave, Iggy is giving you the finger, and John Lydon is smiling as he cashes his royalty checks. But then, isn't that what friends are for?

I don't really listen to punk anymore... but in my adolescent years I was into these bands:
the germs
bad religion
reagan youth
dead kennedys
minor threat
op ivy
screeching weasel
propagandhi
face to face
crass (what was I thinking?!?!)
I guess i grew out of it as I grew mentally and as a musician. its mostly just boring and vacant to me now.
The political side of the songs is laughable now, with all the nominal protesting and incessant whining.
Good times.

Too lazy to name individual songs, so will steal another posters format and just list some bands:

The Clash
Misfits/Samhain
The Undead
Black Flag
Sick of it All
DRI
Bad Brains
Rancid
Henry Rollins
