i was watching crank and chrome and it dynoed at 265hp stock, 286hp with a new air filter, and 296 with a reprogrammed eprom.

isn't it supposed to have 350hp (engine)?

the 200's are 345hp stock, but as with any car, not all of that power gets to the wheels, some of it is lost inthe drivetrain.

that % of power loss surprise me. the eclipse gt is supposed to have 205hp at the engine but they dyno at ~180hp at the wheel. only a 12% loss as opposed to the 23% for the vette.

I noticed the same thing when i was watching that show...but theres no way a corvette would lose 50hp at the wheels.

What's really unbelievable is the fact that it picked up 21hp with a filter. Sounds like the other filter was clogged with bird feathers or something (maybe whole birds). 285-295 rear wheel horsepower is close to what is should be from the factory, believe it or not. Was it an automatic? If so 18-20% power train loss is about right. The losses would probably be a bit less if it were a manual trans car, but not a lot less.
