Let - me explain.
I have a MSI 6330 mobo. The version that I have is not retail. It is actually called the "JABIL" from gateway and was shipped with a T-BIRD 950 Socket A.
After searching the MSI site etc ... I found the spec sheet and it says that I can upgrade the processor to a 1800+ and it references a Palamino ... the link is:

http://www.msicomputer.com/product/...ail.asp?model=K7T_Turbo_2&search_text=MS 6330

My question is: What are the repercussions of putting a TBRED chip into a board that was built for the Palamino Chip?

I imagine that it simply would not POST at all.
The linked site won't come up; server's either down, or else the connection there is REALLY slow.

If you can upgrade to an 1800+, you should be able to upgrade to a Tbred/266MHz FSB. Assuming that your PSU isn't like 100W. :)

None of the changes on the Tbred should affect how the motherboard deals with it vs. a Palomino.

Unfortunately, those with Iwill KK266 boards can't run any TBreds while running Palominos fine (not all successful though). I think there is a thread relating to this issue (around 300 posts) at amdmb.com. I hope yours have no issues.
