What are the new HOT Game Demos out . . .

I'm looking to try some new games and don't want to spend any money (yet). I used to haunt 3Dfiles.com but since it closed am stuck with non-subscriber (read:slow) Fileplanet.

Any good NEW demos and any better d/l sites?

Thanks. See, my problem is dial-up. Since I need a whole night to d/l, I need a "sure thing".
Also, multiplayer is OUT (dial-up, again).

I Like FPS and shooters including Max Payne, RtCW, Serious Sam and Deus Ex (older, Half-Life & Unreal).

Now that you know what I am "shopping" for, any further suggestions?

apoppin--I've bout given up dling demos on dialup. I just get Computer Gaming World and Maximum PC every month, and go with what they've got. I really think that if I could get away from my "must play" games (MOHAA, Shogun, Fallout: Tactics recently), that I could live with demos and bargain bin games. Some games nowadays have almost infinite replayability.

Since I sometimes get disconnected, d/l'ing big demos sometimes takes a couple of nights.

However, I am almost finished with my left-over single player games (Deus Ex and Thief II) - I played all the current games I am interested in - and am looking forward to Unreal II. I just need a few good demos (and I'll buy the game if I really like it) to hold me over awhile.

In October, my 8 months of free MSN by Dellnet expires and I will get cable . . . a new world of multiplayer will open to me.

Just need a few games till them.

If you get the MOHAA demo, you may find you want to buy it.

And for me, 4 months of free dialup is not worth being without cable, but to each his own.

Hey, I'm saving for a new Radeon 9700 or 10000 and a RDRAM P4 system.

I was stuck out in the boonies (nothing but dialup available) until last month when I moved to San Diego. I figure I am getting $22 a month "free" MSN dial-up (8 months free when I bought my Dell notebook). Now cable would cost $45 a month . . . not throwing away the $22 on top of $45 more and I can have a rip-roaring system AND cable in October.

(Good things come to people who wait.) Yes, proud to be a Ferengi.
By the time I finish Deus Ex, Thief II and MOHAA demo - MOHAA will be in the bargain bin and Unreal II will be right around the corner.

Heh Nothing like a frugal gamer. It's hard to keep up with the trends and still be able to afford the great games too, I know. I have so many games unplayed right now that I could be busy with them for at least a couple of years, but I'm sure that I will opt out for the newer and better looking and playing games.

Frugal, huh? I have been called "Ferengi" in OT for haunting Hot Deals, so much.

If you are looking to buy cheap games, always check out Hot Deals. Long before Sacrifice, Giants, Hitman, Project IGI, etc., hit the "bargain bin" - I got them for $7 each shipped.

Download 'Download Accelorator Plus' trial version and that will solve your problems. The trial version never expires and does the job. It has resume support so if you get disconnected you can start where you left off, and not have to start downloading at the very beginning again.

Ihave Kontiki as my D/L accelerator (PC Mag's Ed's Choice). It supports "resume". That's not my problem. Sometimes - when only a d/l is going on - I get kicked off the net by my ISP (no mouse movement after a couple of hours, I guess). Therefore, it may take several nights (unless I have insomnia).
