Ive read people saying things like 1.6 mobile p4 = normal 2.4 chip.

Is there a guide or table somewhere that illustrates or shows what the mobile chips are equal to in a normal desktop model? I am specifically interested in what the chips in the dell inspirion 8600 would be equal to.

How much performance difference will I see between a mobile 745 Pentium 1.8ghz and a p4 3.2 w/ HT?

What about a mobile 755 pentium 2.0ghz and a 3.2 P4 w/ HT?

p4m is about the same speed per clock as p4
Pentiium M (which is what i think you are talking about) is considerably faster per clock (especialy dothan with 2megs cache), but i have yet to see a direct comparison. The 3.2HT is going to be faster then the 1.8pm or 2.0, especialy in aps where hyperthreading can be used, but it also is going to eat baterlife and make a bigger heavier hotter notebook.
