I still use 98se and have no plans to change unless software demands it.

Edit; but maybe Windows XP or Windows 2000 will help us place this in the software forum.

I really didn't want to move to WinMe from Win98Se, but when i did i was pretty happy with the result. Faster boot up, and little minor things were faster. With Windows XP, i really don't know if i want to upgrade, i can't see an improvement.. but when i installed windows 2000 before i was very pleased with the performance and stableness. I'm not sure either.......Win XP to 2000 is probally the same thing as Win98Se to WinMe, just a multimedia upgrade and minor fixes.

Win9x/WinMe -> WinXP: Big win.
Win2000 -> WinXP: I have yet to hear a compelling reason.

WinXP is based on the same NT technology as Win2000/NT4, which
means it's MUCH MUCH more stable than Win9x/WinMe. That alone makes
an upgrade worthy of consideration.

Personally, I don't think I'll upgrade to WinXP because I don't
want to deal with the hassle of "call MS every time your system
hardware configuration changes", which is built into the WinXP
licensing scheme...I'll stick with Win2k for now.
