You need a much more powerful video card.

Well its not that huge of a size difference. I could of went 22" instead of 20" but decided anything bigger than 20" is way to big for a computer monitor. I came from a 19" inch CRT monitor and the widescreen 20" was a lot bigger to me mainly because I went from a standard monitor to a widescreen 20" lcd monitor. I don't notice a difference when going from a widescreen lcd 20" to a 22" or 24" I would need to go 30" for it to make a big enough difference but then going 30" is way to big for me.

The only reason I would go with a 24" over a 22" is because 24" you can get a IPS panel unlike a 22" but 24" monitors are a lot more expensive.

Well I wouldn't buy a 22" lcd because none of them use a IPS panel :(

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 22" lcd.

I myself went with the Samsung 226bw, and I have been extremely happy with this monitor.

Get the soyo 24" at office max, it was only $300 and I love it :) The viewing angles and color quality are way better than with my old 22" TN panel.

I have the 24 inch SOYO (for $299 what a deal). I bought a 22 inch LG but the vertical off access viewing was very annoying to me If I raised or lowered my head by 2-3 inches the color change was dramatic (I am told this is normal for all 22 inchers).

RES is 1920x1200 for the 24 vs 1680x1050 for the 22.

I am much happier with my 24 SOYO.

I agree but I prefer a IPS panel in my lcd monitors. If there was a 22" that had one I would of got a 22" lcd monitor but I couldn't find any.

most people can't notice the difference between panel types. you'll mostly likely be overwhelmed with the size of the monitor itself to really care. i'm came from a 19" TN panel samsung lcd to my dell 24" PVA panel lcd and when i first got it, i was overwhelmed by its size and how bright it was compared to old my 19" lcd. i had to turn it down to 45 just so i could look at the screen without straining my eyes.

usually 22" and below use 1680x1050, while 24" and up use 1920x1200 before going into 30" territory. when it comes to desktop space, 1920x1200 obviously has more. i've used a 1680x1050 20" before and while you can do 2 things side by side, its just a bit more difficult compared to a 1920x1200 screen.

gaming-wise, you going to need a faster video card with at least 512MB of video memory to power a 24", ie. GTX/Ultra class cards. for 22" screens, GTS320/640 should be enough. since you have a 8800GT, you should do fine even with a 24".

22" LCDs are fine if you are getting the better performance ones. There is a small range of good choices though. The Samsung 226bw and the LG 226WT/Q are the top in this class currently. Problem with most 22" monitors though is the ghosting issues and view angles. Most people can deal with viewing angles because most people generally sit in front of their monitor. Ghosting though is a seperate problem and very annoying in gaming and only a handful of 22" monitors dont have ghosting problems. Although some 20" and 24" LCD models have ghosting problems its not as prevalent as that found in 22" LCDs. By that I mean fewer models have the problem so you have a larger pool of models to choose from. The 20" and 24" LCDs have a better screens and the quality is better overall so you have a wider choice to choose from.

One major advantage IMO a good 22" has over a 20" is that due to size of screen vs resolution is that reading/web surfing off of a 22" is easier on the eyes. This is what prompted me to move from a 22" from a 20" LCD. Younger folks wont have this problem but when you get older, like myself, it does make a difference. But like I said you have to go with one of the very few models that dont have the ghosting problems.

Edit: I see xtknight placed the ViewSonic VX2255wmb on his list so that may be another good choice for 22" LCDs. I dont know if it has had any ghosting problems in games though. That would have to be looked into.

I saw the 24" soyo at OMax recently. It looked and felt flimsy too me. Eventhought its inexpensive it seems cheaply made too. I dont want to spend a ton of money on a monitor but I want something quality. For the price difference should I stick with a 22"? how much do you have to spend to get a quality 24"? Is that 24" westy that is still on sale on newegg a good quality? its like $359 AR. Or would i be better of spending $300 on a top quality 22".

I picked up a 22" Azus (the pricier one 300+/-) Does anyone have any experiences with this monitor? I figured it was a reliable company...and...well it matched my tower (ok, that was the primary factor) :)
