Other than "I don't want to pay for music" what are the rational arguments for banning digital rights management? What about copyrights in the first place? Should they still exist? What about for software? Movies? Is music different?

Read "Free Culture" by Lawrence Lessig for a nice discussion on copyright in the Internet age. He discusses DRM among other subjects.

DRM is great in principle, poor in practise, in my opinion. I fully support endeavors to compensate artists for their hard work, but I've been screwed by DRM already and I know I will be again when I upgrade or format my PC. DRM needs to be far more user friendly and less restrictive. We need to be able to burn tracks and sync tracks unlimited numbers of times.
