What are the limits of waste processing?

I swear I'm not one of those guys who reads Popular Mechanics and then screams about how some 20 year pipe dream research project IS COMING OUT LIKE TOMMORROW DOOOD!!!

But...

Apparently this guy has an inexpensive method of recycling a number of materials into useable diesel fuel, with very little byproduct.

The easy read (don't buy into the dead cat hype...it sounds more like a one time test rather than a constant requirement):

My knowledge of the subject is pretty weak, but this seems really neat. I wonder what's the limit on waste processing...could a sewage system be piped into one of these machines? Could minor trash separating (like our current paper/cardboard/glass type stuff) allot for that much fuel?
