What are the hours of 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift?

I'm flipping through the classifieds, and places advertise 1st & 2nd shift..obviously they think this is common knowledge - so what are the hours of each shift? Thx

I think first is 9-5, 2nd is 5-1, 3rd is 1-9

Where I work 1st is 7:30-3:30 2nd is 3:30-11:30 and 3rd is 11:30-7:30.

Really depend on the places. Some first shift start at 7:00 am + 8 hrs, for the next shift and so on...

Yeah I think hospitals 1st shift starts around 0700. I was always interested in that too!

First shift can start anywhere from 6-9 AM, but 7 or 8 is most common. Each company has its own system. The other shifts start 8 hours later.

Third shift isn't so bad if it starts on Sunday night. I liked 3rd better than 2nd.

yes , it depends

the last place i worked with 3 shifts/rotating shifts, it was

"mids" , often called graveyard or 3rd shift - 11 pm to 7 am
"days", day shift/1st shift - 7am - 3 pm
"swings" , swing shift/2nd shift - 3 pm - 11 pm
