What are the "good versions" of Linksys WRT54G?

Hey I looked on eBay and there are lots of auctions for the Linksys WRT54G router. I've read that earlier versions of this are superior to the current models. If I email the people selling the routers what should I tell them to check for so I can make sure I am getting one of the good ones so I can use the DD-WRT firmware or some other one?

BTW you should consider these two units too, Buffalo WHR-G54S, WHR-HP-G54.

They cost less than comparable Linksys WRT, and to my judgement are better units.
