What are the differences between SD cards?

What are the differences between different brand of SD cards? Is it just speed? Some of them have the word "Ultra" or even "Ultra II" in their name and what do they mean? I bought an SD400 which is my first camera which requires a SD card so i am in the market for a new one. But I am confused with the pricing. Some of them are like $15 after rebate for a 512Mb but a 1Gb one can be selling at $80 or more.

Sorry if it has been asked before. I did a quick search but nothing comes up.

Different brand also have different waranty

Sandisk has 5, i think kingston is life of product..

Ultra/Ultra2 are faster, but i believe your camera need to support it.. else only when you throw it in a usb2 card reader. extreme supports higher temp ie desert or extreme cold..

I would just buy one that has warranty.. i had to rma a few cards before
