what are the difference between car fuel?

I was just wondering if it is really better to invest in the better gas for my car. Exactly what does it do that helps w/ the car? Is it something that the driver can see/feel?

I always get the lowest grade of fuel, 87. But what about the 91 and 92 grade gas? What benifets can I get from a better gas?

What do you guys think?

btw, my car is a 2002 honda civic, w/ about 27k on it.

The octane rating has to do with how much the fuel can be compressed before spontaneously igniting.

What does it say in your manual? I'd do whatever it says in there. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it recommends 87 octane, in which case it would be a complete waste of money for you to put premium in it.
