What are the Dell monitors with identical model numbers but a "v" after them, such as 1907v or 1707v? What is the difference and why are the v models listed without a discount? Are they a new revision of the 1907 and 1707 with some new added feature?

Well, the 1707FPV and 1907FPV are higher contrast/wider viewing angle versions of the 1707FP and 1907FP. They have a slightly lower response time. The 'V' versions use Samsung PVA panels with a little overdrive, and the regular ones use TN/overdrive. The V versions are aimed more toward desktop publishers and photo editors due to their higher color accuracy and contrast.

thanks knight, I'm glad someone knew what was going on! =)

Btw, when you say TN do you mean S-IPS or just oldschool TN?

TN is the low end 6-bit type. S-IPS is a high-end 8-bit panel. Maybe you thought I said TFT, which could have referred to any of the types. TN always means the low-end kind. All of them have some similarities. S-IPS is single-domain like TN (still, it is completely different in other ways).
