What are the correct settings for 9700Pro using hdtv adapter?

Just got my adapter from ATI (the DVI-I to Component Output), but I still can't get the 9700Pro to display correctly. I followed the instructions in the manual that came with the adapter, including setting things to 640x480 and 60hz refresh (which makes no sense to me), but it still is overscanning and games (such as C&C Generals) are still not displaying correctly (parts of the screen are still cutoff). What settings do people use? I'm running Cat 3.1 drivers, Dx 9, 9700Pro on a A7N8X. The TV I'm trying to use is a Sony HD 65" widescreen.

Thanks in advance.

There's an "optimized" 480p mode under the display settings, but that only changes the desktop resolution to 640x432 so that the overscan parts aren't cut off. You're still SOL if you wanna play games. The overscan problems with the ATI adapter is bad enough I bought a Audio Authority VGA component adapter instead.

is that right? :(

So I basically just blew $40 (adapter plus shipping)...oh well. Guess I'll go look for that VGA-Component adapter. That works fine? no problems even in games at high res?
